Referee Marco Di Bello is expected to be handed a one-month suspension after losing control of the clash between Lazio and Milan.
After a fairly quiet first half, sparks flew between the Biancocelesti and the Rossoneri in the second 45 minutes of their Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday evening, with over 30 fouls being committed across the game.
Di Bello started to lose control and began quickly brandishing cards, sending off three Lazio players – Luca Pellegrini, Mateo Guendouzi and Adam Marusic. His work was widely criticised by the Italian press and the controversy has dominated the post-match discussions.
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Serie A referee designator Gianluca Rocchi is so unimpressed with the work of Di Bello in Lazio’s 1-0 loss to Milan that he’s set to hand the official a one-month ban.
Di Bello has already been punished for insufficient work this season, spending a month out of action following his puzzling decisions in a clash between Juventus and Bologna at the end of August.
And despite this, Lazio still gets a loss.
