Maurizio Sarri is now looking increasingly likely to leave Lazio in the summer, forcing the club to find an adequate replacement.
The 65-year-old Italian coach has continued to grow distant with president Claudio Lotito over the last few weeks, with his recent complaints about the transfer market frustrating the club’s management, who feel he is simply giving excuses.
Lazio failed to replicate their feat in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie with Bayern Munich, seeing them crash out of the competition. Now the club’s focus is on the top four race and the Coppa Italia, likely to be the last dances of Sarri in the Italian capital.
As detailed by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Sarri is now expected to leave Lazio at the end of the season, despite having a contract running to June 2025. As such, the club are now looking around for possible replacements.
A handful of options have been circulating around Formello for some time now, including Igor Tudor, Raffaele Palladino and Alberto Gilardino, but some former players could also tempt the Biancocelesti.
Sergio Conceicao, Matias Almeyda and Lionel Scaloni have also been floated as ideas to take over the Lazio bench in the summer, but for now it’s too early to say who’ll replace Sarri.
