Lazio Challenge Reports of Upcoming Sarri Exit

Lazio have released an official statement challenging reports that the club are looking for options to replace Maurizio Sarri in the summer.

The Biancocelesti crashed out of Europe on Tuesday after suffering a difficult 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie, a poor result considering the impressive 1-0 win in the first meeting.

In the days following, multiple reports from Italian newspapers suggested that Sarri would leave Lazio at the end of the season, despite having a contract lasting to June 2025. A long list of possible alternatives were also proposed, including Sergio Conceicao and Igor Tudor.

Lazio decided not to stay silent amidst these reports, releasing a statement to confirm their ‘total trust’ in Sarri despite the difficult 2023-24 campaign.

Following the news that appeared in some media outlets, regarding alleged evaluations underway on the technical guidance, S.S. Lazio confirm, if necessary, their total trust in the coach Maurizio Sarri, specifying that the coach himself has a contract expiring in 2025.

Therefore all rumours linking other coaches to S.S. Lazio are devoid of any foundation.

With the Champions League no longer a concern, Lazio can now place full focus on Serie A and the Coppa Italia. In the former, they’re trailing the pack in the race for a top four finish, and in the latter they’ll face Juventus in the semi-finals next month.

  1. Perhaps now Sarri can stop whinging about playing 3 games per week since losing to Bayern Munich. It’s tiring listening him complain, just get in with it.
