Sarri Open to Lazio Stay Despite Recent Tensions

Maurizio Sarri is keen to respect his contract with Lazio and stay until June 2025, whilst the club are debating setting up a new deal.

Tensions have grown between coach and club in recent weeks following the team’s inconsistent form in Serie A and their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich. After many rumours, an official statement was released that reiterated faith in the Italian tactician.

With no European commitments left, Lazio can now focus on their fight for a top four finish and the Coppa Italia, facing off against Juventus in the semi-finals next month. The general mood doesn’t appear positive, however, and fans are growing increasingly inpatient.

Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) details how Sarri wants to see out his contract with Lazio, willing to stay until the end of next season. The club are open to a longer partnership and will sit down with the coach in the summer to discuss a new possible contract.

At the start of this campaign, the two parties verbally agreed to evaluate their project together at the end of the season should things start taking a downward turn.
