Maurizio Sarri has decided to call it quits at Lazio, handing in his notice of resignation to the club’s management.
The Biancocelesti coach was left infuriated after the team’s horrid 2-1 loss to relegation candidates Udinese on Monday evening and had a tense meeting with the squad, where he demanded an explanation behind their drop in form.
Allegedly, Sarri asked the Lazio squad if they wanted him to stay in the dugout or leave, and nobody responded, prompting him to decide to call it quits after three years in the role.
Fabrizio Romano, Gianluca Di Marzio, Calciomercato.com and La Lazio Siamo Noi all reported this afternoon that Sarri has now resigned as Lazio’s head coach, handing in his notice to the club’s management with immediate effect.
The Biancocelesti will now have to quickly find a replacement for the remaining 10 Serie A matches of the season, as well as their Coppa Italia semi-final clash with Juventus.
Sarri oversaw 137 matches at Lazio during his three years at the helm, picking up 65 wins, 30 draws and 42 losses.
Finally!!
