Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has suffered a painful ankle injury, an issue that’ll keep him sidelined for a number of games.
The 29-year-old Italian shot-stopper has continued to be one of the few bright spots for the Biancocelesti this term, despite the chaos on the rest of the pitch. His strong work recently earned him a new long-term contract that carried a significant salary bump.
Lazio were left concerned after Provedel was forced off the pitch in the final moments of the 2-1 loss to Udinese on Monday night, looking extremely pained after suffering an ankle issue whilst jumping for a corner.
As announced by Lazio, Provedel underwent a round of medical tests at the Paideia International Hospital today, which confirmed that he didn’t suffer any ‘skeletal fractures’. He has suffered ‘significant sprain trauma’ however, something that’ll keep him sidelined for weeks.
The 29-year-old will be closely monitored over the coming days and it’s currently unclear how long he’ll be forced out of action, but regardless his loss comes as a huge blow to Maurizio Sarri and the Biancocelesti.
