Who Could Replace Maurizio Sarri at Lazio?

Lazio are now looking around for the right replacement for Maurizio Sarri following the Italian coach’s shock resignation.

The 65-year-old tactician unexpectedly resigned on Tuesday afternoon following the team’s miserable 2-1 loss to relegation candidates Udinese on Monday night, a result that leaves the club far off the European spots with 10 matches left to play.

The wheels clearly came off the Lazio project this term but now the club have been thrust into free fall following Sarri’s resignation, leaving president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani to find the right replacement.

As reported by La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio have drawn up a list of possible candidates to replace Sarri at the helm, considering options like Tommaso Rocchi, Miroslav Klose, Cristian Brocchi, Marco Giampolo, Massimo Oddo, Igor Tudor and Gennaro Gattuso.

Lotito also contacted Edoardo Reja, who refused the idea of returning to the Biancocelesti. Dreams for the future include Lionel Scaloni, Sergio Conceicao and Thiago Motta.

  1. Is it out of the realm of possibility to go for Antonio Conte? A proven winner and likes the 3-5-2 formation.
Wage and transfer budgets could be tricky but he has not managed since leaving Tottenham last year.
