Official: Igor Tudor Named as New Lazio Head Coach

Lazio have officially announced the arrival of Igor Tudor, who is taking over as the new head coach following Maurizio Sarri’s resignation.

Sarri unexpectedly resigned on Tuesday last week, less than 24 hours after the team’s painful 2-1 loss at home to relegation candidates Udinese. In his absence, assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello took over the Biancocelesti for their 3-2 win over Frosinone on the weekend.

Lazio quickly considered a number of possible options to take over from Sarri, including Miroslav Klose, Cristian Brocchi and Tommaso Rocchi, but after a day or two of deliberations they decided to focus on Tudor, fresh off the back of his time with Olympique Marseille.

As announced, Igor Tudor has now officially become the new Lazio coach, putting pen to paper on his contract, which is understood to be a one-year deal lasting to June 2025 with an option for a second year linked to easily achievable results.

Lazio’s next game is against Juventus on 30th March, giving Igor Tudor the chance to work closely with his new players ahead of his first outing.
