Castellanos on Tudor Influence at Lazio & Juventus Strengths

Valentin Castellanos discussed the arrival and ‘intensity’ of new Lazio coach Igor Tudor and the dangers posted by a wounded Juventus.

The 25-year-old Argentinian striker has looked a positive figure for the Biancocelesti when given the chance this season, netting a brace in the recent 3-2 win over Frosinone, giving Tudor something to think about for the final two months of the term.

Many fans have started to lose faith in Lazio captain Ciro Immobile and believe Castellanos should be given more chances in order to help him develop into a starting striker for the club. This campaign, the Argentine forward has netted four goals and provided five assists across 35 games.

Speaking to Lazio’s media department (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Castellanos first discussed Tudor’s first week or two with Lazio.

In the last week we’ve worked well on every aspect, the coach focuses a lot on intensity and this is important for the whole team.

Many complicated matches await us, starting from the next two against Juventus, we know the value of the Bianconeri, we’ll have to think about playing our game to try to win.

He touched on the difficulty of facing Juventus in both the league and Coppa Italia.

Definitely yes, but we’re prepared well for this match. We know how important the three points are for us and for our fans.

He looked back on his brace against Frosinone.

The brace in the last round was fundamental for me and for the team. Scoring with this shirt always helps, even more so giving a hand to Lazio in every minute I play.

Finally, Castellanos discussed how impressing in Serie A could help him break into the Argentina national team.

It can help me a lot, scoring goals against Italian defences is never easy. The Selección are reigning world champions and have a squad full of champions. Becoming part of it is difficult, it can only happen by working hard every day.
