Lazio manager Igor Tudor is reportedly looking to bolster his squad by signing Ivan Ilic and Valentin Carboni in the summer.
The Croatian tactician succeeded Maurizio Sarri who resigned from his post last month. While the 45-year-old has already implemented a new tactical system – shifting from Sarri’s 4-3-3 to 3-4-2-1 – he’ll be eager to add new players capable of interpreting his own style of play.
According to Il Tempo (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Tudor is seeking a reunion with Ilic. The 23-year-old currently plies his trade at Torino but worked under Tudor’s guidance at Hellas Verona during the 2021/22 campaign.
Curiously, the source mentions how Lazio tried to sign the Serbian during the time but to no avail. In January 2023, the midfielder followed Ivan Juric to Torino and has been a stalwart in the middle of the park for the Granata ever since.
The Manchester City youth product has a contract with Torino valid until 2027. This season, he has thus far contributed with three goals and two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Moreover, the source mentions Inter-owned midfielder Valentin Carboni as another profile admired by Tudor. The 19-year-old has been delivering the goods this season while on loan at Monza. He has carved himself a regular spot in Raffaele Palladino’s starting lineup since December, producing two goals and four assists in Serie A.
The attacking midfielder also caught the attention of Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni who recently gave him his senior international debut. While the teenager’s value was 15 million euros a year ago, it has now skyrocketed due to his recent exploits.
Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti continue to track the youngster as they consider him an interesting profile, not just for the present but, above all, for the future.
