Lazio wingback Manuel Lazzari will miss Saturday’s Derby della Capitale clash against Roma due to a knock.
The 30-year-old sustained a calf injury recently, preventing him from making an appearance under the tutelage of newly-appointed manager Igor Tudor. He missed the back-to-back clashes against Juventus in Serie A and the Coppa Italia respectively.
Many expect the Italian to thrive in the Croatian’s 3-4-2-1 tactical system as it would allow him to feature in his favourite role as a wingback rather than a right-back in a four-man defense.
However, we will have to wait a little longer to find out for certain, as the player will remain on the sidelines for the next 15 to 20 days; this is according to the Lazio Space X account. Therefore, the former Spal man will miss this weekend’s major tilt against arch-rivals Roma.
Moreover, the source expects Lazzari to skip next week’s home fixture against Salernitana. The Biancocelesti will then hope to have him available for the away encounter against Genoa on April 19th at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
This season, the right wingback has thus far made 29 appearances in all competitions. He has yet to score a goal this term, but managed to produce two assists in Serie A.
Lazzari joined Lazio in 2019 after making his breakthrough at Spal. His contract runs until the summer of 2027.
