Lazio teenager Sana Fernandes has penned a new contract, tying him to the Italian capital club until 2028. The Biancocelesti have announced the news in a note published on the club’s official website on Monday.
The statement revealed that the 18-year-old has extended his stay at Formello for the next four years. The left winger started his career at Sporting Lisbon before joining Lazio on a free transfer in September 2022.
Since then, the youngster has cemented himself as one of the most promising starlets in the club’s Primavera ranks. This season, he has thus far scored seven goals and produced seven assists in his outings between the U19 and U18 sides.
Fernandes also received several call-ups for the first team this season while Maurizio Sarri was still in charge. However, he has yet to make his maiden appearance with the senior squad this term despite his recurring presence on the bench.
But at the age of 18 and with a long-term contract in hand, time remains on the young man’s side, as the Lazio faithful will be hoping to see him climb the ranks and prove himself worthy of a spot with the first team.
Fernandes mostly plays as a left winger, but can also feature on the opposite flank or even as a striker. The youngster is a native of Guinea-Bissau but also holds Portuguese citizenship.
