Lazio & Napoli Pondering Sensational Striker Exchange Deal

A swap deal is reportedly brewing as Lazio and Napoli consider exchanging Ciro Immobile and Giovanni Simeone. Neither striker has been enjoying a prosperous 2023/24 campaign, which could spark a double exit.

So according to Il Mattino (via Fantacalcio.it) the two clubs could launch talks over a possible exchange deal. As the source explains, Simeone has become a target for Lazio since the appointment of Igor Tudor last month.

The 28-year-old is currently in the midst of his second campaign at Napoli. However, he hasn’t been able to carve himself significant space at the Maradona Stadium, especially under the guidance of current Partenopei manager Francesco Calzona. The Argentine hardly ever features as a starter, and he only managed to assemble three goals across all competitions this term.

Therefore, Simone could cherish the opportunity to reunite with Tudor. After all, the striker enjoyed the most prolific campaign of his career when the two collaborated at Hellas Verona during the 2021/22 campaign.

As for Immobile, he could also be tempted by a move to Napoli, which is considered to be his hometown club. The 34-year-old has already cemented himself as the all-time best scorer in the history of Lazio, but his performances and scoring stats have been on the decline this season.

So while this potential exchange deal could make sense on paper, it remains to be seen if it will materialize in the summer. Both players are tied to contracts running until June 2026.

  1. We should not let Ciro go. He is probably our greatest player of all time and is very experienced and a great role model for the younger lads. If we were to do this deal we are honestly so dumb. We need to give Ciro another chance.
