The capital side appointed the 45-year-old as head coach following Maurizio Sarri’s departure last month. While the new manager has already implemented a tactical change – switching from 4-3-3 to a 3-4-2-1 system – he hopes to have more suited personnel at his disposal next term.
Therefore, the Roman newspaper believes several Lazio senators could leave this summer, beginning with Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto who are the club’s two highest earners. Mattia Zaccagni is also in a delicate spot, especially as the renewal talks are currently on ice.
The winger’s current deal will expire in 2025, and the management wishes to avoid another Felipe Anderson situation, as the Brazilian is all set to leave the club on a free transfer. Moreover, the source expects Pedro to depart the Italian capital for good, while the fates of Adam Marusic and Matias Vecino remain in the balance.
On the other hand, the report tips some of the club’s younger stars to remain at the Stadio Olimpico. This includes summer signings Mateo Guendouzi, Gustav Isaksen, Nicolo Rovella and Taty Castellanos. Furthermore, goalkeeper Ivan Provedel should also stay, as well as defender Mario Gila, even though Real Madrid could exercise their buy-back clause to bring him back to Spain.
