Lazio defender Patric believes he and his teammates should either follow the principles set by their newly-appointed manager Igor Tudor, or make way. The Barcelona youth product spoke to the club’s social channels (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) ahead of Friday’s contest against Salernitana.
The Spaniard is a genuine club veteran who has made Formello his home since 2015 and has already served under several managers during his time in the Italian capital. So following the most recent managerial change, the 30-year-old believes Tudor is now looking to understand which players fit within his system, while those who are ill-suited would have to step aside.
Tudor asks us different things compared to Sarri. It is certainly a drastic change in terms of playing style. He also needs time to work with the team and understand which profiles are most suited to his idea of football. It is a period that also requires honesty. So anyone who is inapt to his ideas should step aside because the most important thing is always Lazio.”
Patric also admitted that the defeat against Roma in the Derby della Capitale was an agonizing one.
There is a lot of regret for the defeat. We all know the importance of that match, especially for the fans. The defeat was also bad for the standings because it took us away from the places we want to occupy. However, there are also many games left, which is why must think positively, face one match at a time and then see where we can get to.
Despite what the league table may suggest, the Lazio defender expects a complicated encounter against Salernitana on Friday night.
It will be a very difficult match. They will certainly focus on the counterattacks. We will have to try to score immediately to avoid complicating matters. It will be essential to stay calm. Life is all about concentration and serenity.
Make Patric Capitano now!
