Lazio star Luis Alberto sent a message to the fans after announcing his exit plans this summer, which are reportedly linked to a rich offer from Qatar.
The 31-year-old Spanish midfielder, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti since 2027, surprised fans following the thrilling 4-1 win over Salernitana on Friday evening, where he publicly announced his intentions to walk away from the club at the end of the season, wanting his contract to be terminated.
Luis Alberto has been with Lazio since August 2016 and is one of the fan favourites in the squad, even if his attitude and emotional behaviour has seen him come to blows with supporters over the last few years.
Journalist Damiano Er Faina reported that Luis Alberto decided to leave Lazio in the summer following the arrival of a lucrative multi-year offer from an unnamed Qatari club, a move that would allow him to cash in.
The 31-year-old Spaniard sent a message to the Biancocelesti fans on his Instagram page in the hours after his shock interview, promising his professionalism and thanking them for their support.
I’m grateful for the displays of affection, my relationship with the Lazio fans is excellent and it’s only a matter of pride.
I thank them for everything they have done in my years at the club, especially to the boys from the Curva Nord and the Tribuna Tevere who have always supported me.
I will always have in my heart the need to work hard and give my all on the pitch until the last minute of the last match, as I always have.
