Lazio are concerned about the condition of Daichi Kamada amidst injury fears, but the return of Mattia Zaccagni offers a timely boost.
The two Biancocelesti stars both missed last night’s clash against Juventus in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. The Italian winger’s absence was expected as he’s been out with an injury for several weeks, but the Japanese was tipped to play an important part in the fixture which ended in an insufficient 2-1 win for the capital side.
However, the 27-year-old suffered a muscular problem in his left foot that prevented him from training with his teammates in the final sessions ahead of the cup tie. Therefore, he was forced to forfeit, leaving Igor Tudor with limited options in the middle of the park.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Kamada will undergo medical tests in the coming hours to reveal the extent of his condition. The Roman newspaper believes the worst-case scenario could be a muscle strain. This would make for an untimely stop for the midfielder who was beginning to rediscover his best form since Igor Tudor’s appointment last month.
On a more positive note, Il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) expects Zaccagni to make his return from injury this Saturday in the Serie A encounter against Hellas Verona, albeit he’ll likely start on the bench. The winger has been out of action since the first leg against Juventus when he found himself on the wrong end of a rough challenge from Federico Gatti.
