Lazio centre-back Mario Gila is hoping to make his return from injury in the Serie A encounter against Inter. The 23-year-old sustained an adductor injury against Juventus in the Second Leg of the Coppa Italia Semi-Finals which ruled him out of the club’s 1-0 Serie A win over Hellas Verona.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the Spaniard’s injury requires around 20 days for a full recovery. Therefore, the player will certainly miss this weekend’s trip to Monza, and will likely have to skip the following home fixture against Empoli on May 12th.
As the source tells it, Gila is now gunning for a return in the penultimate round of the season, when the Biancocelesti travel North to take on Inter. This will be a celebratory occasion for the newly-crowned Italian champions who will hold the trophy ceremony after the match.
The defender joined Lazio in 2022, completing a switch from Real Madrid. He found limited playing time under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri but has been a mainstay in the starting lineup since the appointment of Igor Tudor.
Igor Tudor’s men will be fully focused on that result against the 2023-24 Scudetto Champions as they look to secure a spot in Europe next season. Lazio currently sit seventh in the Serie A table, four points adrift from arch-rivals Roma who currently occupy the last Champions League berth.
My God, you have no idea what a huuuuge smile you put on my face. I was convinced his season is over and reading this gives me hope we can actually win every match left, especially considering Inter already grabbed the title and Simone might be “less focused” to win against us.
C’mon Mario GODSPEED ❤️
