Olympique Marseille are reportedly hoping to secure the services of Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto on a Free Transfer this Summer.
The experienced Spaniard famously announced his desire to leave the Italian capital side following the win over Salernitana a few weeks ago, pleading with the management to release him at the end of the season. A week later, he kissed the club’s badge after scoring the winner against Genoa, leaving the fans to wonder whether he changed his mind or not.
According to reports from France (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Luis Alberto’s situation has alarmed Marseille, who would be interested in snatching the playmaker’s services for free. However, Lazio President Claudio Lotito has already closed the door on a free transfer, insisting that the club has no intention of rescinding its contract with the player which remains valid for another three years.
Therefore, if the Ligue 1 side – or any other club for that matter – would like to sign the 31-year-old this Summer, they would have to negotiate terms with the Biancocelesti.
The Sevilla youth product has been a pillar for Lazio since making the move from Liverpool in 2016. This season, he has so far scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
