Lazio are reportedly keeping tabs on Monza right-back Samuele Birindelli as they look to bolster their flanks in the Summer. With Igor Tudor straying away from Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 system and implementing his own 3-4-2-1 formation, this tactical shift could prompt a summer revamp at Formello.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), a meeting between the Lazio coach and the club’s Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani set the guidelines for the Summer Transfer Window plans. The two men identified the wings as a department that requires some reinforcement.
The source claims that Birindelli’s name emerged as a new candidate to join the capital side in the Summer. The 24-year-old is a Pisa youth product who joined Monza in 2022. He has gradually cemented himself as a regular starter in Raffaele Palladino’s lineup, making 32 appearances this season, and contributing with a couple of assists.
Birindelli can play either as a fullback in a four-man defense, or a wingback in a formation that features a three-man backline. The player’s contract with the Biancorossi is valid until June 2026, and he is the son of Alessandro Birindelli, a former Juventus player who also played as a right-back.
The report adds that the Monza man joins Lazio’s wingback shortlist which includes other young Serie A stars, such as Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu and Sassuolo’s Josh Doig.
