Igor Tudor will have to find a way to build his defence for Lazio’s upcoming clash with Empoli, dealing with some concerning absences.

The Biancocelesti currently find themselves seventh in the Serie A table with three matches left to play, giving them an incredibly slim chance of competing with Roma and Atalanta for a spot in the Champions League. At this stage, a spot in the Europa League seems a more reasonable goal.

Lazio have only dropped points in two of their seven Serie A matches under Tudor, a run that has restored faith in the Italian capital and given the players something to smile about ahead of the summer. They’ll be keen to bounce back after their 2-2 draw with Monza last weekend.

La Lazio Siamo Noi details how only one Lazio defender trained with the squad in Formello on Wednesday – Alessio Romagnoli. Mario Gila is out due to an injury with his left adductor, whilst Nicolo Casale is suffering from a bruise after the Monza draw. Patric was also absent.

A handful of players from the Primavera were called up to train with the first team and could be included in the squad for the Empoli match. Elseid Hysaj or Adam Marusic could also be moved into the centre of defence to provide some cover.
