Lazio defender Mario Gila has given Igor Tudor’s squad an important boost for their upcoming Serie A clash with Empoli.
The 23-year-old Spanish centre-back was forced to miss the last two outings against Monza and Hellas Verona after suffering an adductor muscle injury, reducing the Croatian coach’s options at the back.
Gila failed to make a strong impression under Tudor’s predecessor Maurizio Sarri, often being left on the bench, but he’s been a regular starter since the Croatian coach’s arrival, attracting some transfer market attention ahead of the summer.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Gila spent the majority of the Friday squad training session with his Lazio teammates at Formello, pushing to be part of the squad for their upcoming Serie A clash with Empoli.
Assuming everything goes to plan in the final training session, he’ll be called up for the match against the struggling Tuscan outfit.
