Lazio president Claudio Lotito highlighted what he wants Igor Tudor’s squad to learn from the 1973-74 Scudetto winning side.

The Biancocelesti are in an interesting spot heading into the summer, having recently started a fresh project under Igor Tudor after the end of Maurizio Sarri’s time in charge. Things have started fairly well, even if there’s been a few concerning moments.

Tudor and the Lazio fans are expecting some important changes in the summer transfer window to rejuvenate the squad ahead of the new season, but for now the focus is on securing a spot in the Europa League, which’ll guarantee some much-needed resources.

Speaking in a press conference (via LazioNews24), Lotito opened up about the memories of the 1973-74 Scudetto won by Lazio and the lessons this team could learn from their predecessors. A special shirt commemorating the victory has been designed by Mizuno and will be worn against Empoli.

I’d like this team to follow the same philosophy as that one, looking towards the other. They are examples that will remain indelible in the history of sport and Lazio. They had to fight not only for the result, but for all the fans of Lazio.

These initiatives represent an important element that unites and strengthens the entire club. It’s a mentality that I try to instil in the team. We win for all the people who have been less fortunate and who can find a smile again through these players.
