Lazio have reportedly revived their interest in Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei, as they look to bring the promising midfielder back to the Italian peninsula.
The 21-year-old started his career at Cesena’s youth ranks before joining Inter in 2018. However, the Blues managed to poach his services in the summer of 2020, and he’s been plying his trade on English shores ever since.
This season, Casadei started his campaign on loan at Leicester City where he collaborated with his compatriot Enzo Maresca, finding consistent playing time under the Italian manager’s guidance. However, Chelsea decided to recall him mid-season, but he only earned brief cameos in the Premier League during the second part of the campaign.
According to Calciomercato.it (via LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti are once again on the youngster’s heels. The source claims Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani has already contacted Chelsea proposing a loan move for next season.
This would be an expensive temporary transfer that also includes an obligation to buy under certain conditions, with the Premier League giants retaining a buy-back option. Lazio coach Igor Tudor has reportedly approved the idea, as he looks to revamp his midfield department for next season.
Luis Alberto is seeking a departure after eight years in the capital, while the likes of Danilo Cataldi and Matteo Guendouzi could also be heading towards the exit.
