Lazio star Daichi Kamada is reportedly seeking an improved salary after receiving an offer from Crystal Palace.

The Japan international’s contract will expire at the end of the season, but he has the option to unilaterally activate an automatic renewal for another three seasons before May 30th. As recently reported, the 27-year-old is planning to let this clause expire before negotiating a new deal that includes a pay rise.

The player currently earns €3 million per year but is eyeing a salary of €3.5 million in addition to bonuses. According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Crystal Palace’s offer is behind Kamada’s new request. The Glaziers are looking to reunite the midfielder with his former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner in South London.

The Premier League giants have reportedly offered the Japanese player the same wage (€3.5 million)  that he’s currently asking for to stay at Lazio. So it remains to be seen if the Italian capital side will oblige. If they don’t meet his demands, Kamada could contemplate a move to the Premier League.

The midfielder started his maiden campaign in Italian football on a slow note, struggling for relevance under Maurizio Sarri’s guidance. However, he immediately became a pillar in the starting lineup following the appointment of Igor Tudor as head coach in March. He has contributed with two goals and as many assists in 28 Serie A appearances.

  1. A player that does nothing during a whole season asking for a pay raise.
Just move on to Crystal Palace already.
