Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is welcome to stay at the club beyond the current campaign, but only if he accepts the conditions set by his coach Igor Tudor.
The two men share a frosty relationship dating back to their time together at Olympique Marseille. So when the 25-year-old made the switch to the capital side last summer, he certainly didn’t envision an awkward reunion with the Croatian manager. Yet, a twist of fate forced the two men to work side-by-side once more.
Although they appeared to have reconciled at first, the peace didn’t last too long, with the Frenchman getting upset by his omission from the starting lineup on some occasions. Therefore, many believe that the duo will find it hard to co-exist at Formello.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Guendouzi’s entourage will hold talks with the club management at the end of the season to sort out the situation. The report believes Tudor has set his terms, as he’ll be willing to keep the midfielder at his disposal if he vows to avoid causing stirs when it comes to team selection.
In other words, the former Arsenal man must be willing to work hard in training to earn a starting spot and accept the manager’s tactical choices regardless of whether he plays or not. Otherwise, Lazio will place him on the transfer list and set their price at circa €30 million.
