Lazio Set to Adjust Salary of Leicester & Manchester City Transfer Target

Lazio are reportedly working on a new contract for their young goalkeeper Christos Mandas which will include a pay rise.

From Unknown Third Goalkeeper to Premier League Target

The 22-year-old joined the club last summer, completing a transfer from Crete FC. He was initially deemed to be the third-choice custodian, but when Ivan Provedel sustained an injury in March, Mandas valiantly filled the void, producing five clean sheets in nine Serie A appearances, and only allowing in six goals.

The Greek’s prowess earned him interest from Manchester City who are always on the lookout for young talent to bolster their U23 ranks. Moreover, the newly-promoted Leicester City is also on the goalkeeper’s trail according to recent news reports.

Lazio’s Plan for Mandas

Therefore, Lazio will be looking to shield their young shot-stopper by improving his wages. The Greece U21 international is currently among the club’s lowest earners, reportedly collecting circa €200,000 per year. According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti are offering the player a net salary of €500,000, but the goalkeeper and his agent are seeking €800,000.

Mandas has a contract valid until 2028, so the two parties don’t need to extend the deadline but only adjust the salary. However, Lazio would be content to listen to offers, as they would be willing to sacrifice the goalkeeper for the right price. The Italian capital side reportedly value the player at €15 million.
