Udinese Director Confirms Talks With Lazio Over Serbia Star

Udinese Technical Director Gianluca Nani admits ongoing negotiations with Lazio over a possible transfer for Lazar Samardzic.

The Biancoceselti are searching the market for a creative midfielder who can replace the departing Luis Alberto. The Spaniard has agreed to join Qatari club Al-Duhail this summer, leaving a significant hole in the middle of the park.

In recent days, Samardzic emerged as a possible replacement for the former Liverpool player. The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Serie A. Despite Udinese’s underwhelming campaign, he still managed to score six league goals and provide two assists.

Udinese Director Nani Reveals Lazio Interest in Samardzic

In an interview with TV 12 (via Alfredopedulla.com), Udinese’s director Nani confirmed that his club is in talks with Lazio over Samardzic.

I can’t deny that I spoke with Lotito. It was a chat to understand the situation. Lazio like Samardzic and have had him in their sights for quite some time, ever since he was in negotiations with Inter (last summer).

It was an overall discussion to clarify the state of affairs. So it’s not certain that it will lead to a transfer. We are happy with the player and we know that he can still improve a lot.

Samardzic was part of the Serbian national team that participated in Euro 2024. But they exited the competition prematurely after finishing last in their group with two points.
