Lazio Abandons Pursuit of Udinese Star but Still Aim to Lure Man United Outcast

Lazio have reportedly dropped the ball on their attempts to sign Lazar Samardzic but are still dreaming of bringing in Mason Greenwood.

As reported yesterday, the Biancocelesti figured they could not afford to buy both players during the same summer transfer market. Therefore, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà suggested the Serie A club will be looking to forge an agreement with Udinese for Samardzic who could be a more affordable option.

However, Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti (via LazioNews24) reveals that Lazio have abandoned the track that leads to the Serbian midfielder as the gap between their offer and Udinese’s asking price remains significant. So with the Zebrette unwilling to lower their demands, the Italian capital side dropped out of the race.

Lazio Give up on Samardzic, Still Working on Greenwood

Nevertheless, Marchetti claims that Lazio are still negotiating a deal for Greenwood. The 22-year-old managed to revive his career with a positive loan spell at Getafe, putting his personal and legal troubles behind him. Yet, he still finds himself unwanted at Man United.

Lazio have previously offered €20 million plus a 50% sell-on fee in case of a future resale, but the Red Devils are still holding out for larger figures, and aim to ignite a bidding war that could include Premier League and La Liga clubs.

  1. Our midfield means that is going to secure the Turkish league player and Baroni must be happy with what he has, so become serious and get Greenwood Lotito, don’t beat around the bush much and have Greenwood himself push for the transfer and United will likely allow him to come because it allows them to go on with their incomings . Wasting time is not good for us.

  2. So instead of going for a player proven to excel in Serie A who can score from outside the box (something our midfield doesn’t have), we try and get a player that has to adapt to Serie A and can quickly become a cancer in the locker room.
    Well done Lotito.
