Lazio have received a new offer from the City Group for striker Valentin Castellanos, leading to reflections in the Italian capital.

The 25-year-old Argentinian forward joined the Biancocelesti last summer from New York City FC in a deal worth around €15 million plus add-ons, signed to provide some backup and competition to club captain Ciro Immobile.

Castellanos showed some positives in his debut season with Lazio, scoring six goals and providing five assists across 46 matches. In recent weeks, he’s been heavily targeted by Spanish side Girona, who are looking for a new striker as they prepare to sell Artem Dovbyk.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), City Group – who are affiliated with Girona and Manchester City, amongst others – have presented an offer worth around €15 million plus add-ons to Lazio for Castellanos.

President Claudio Lotito and Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani are now considering the proposal, believing in the player’s potential but also open to a possible sale.
