Bologna are reportedly interested in making a move for Lazio defender Nicolo Casale in the coming weeks to replace the outgoing Riccardo Calafiori.
The 26-year-old Italian centre-back joined the Biancocelesti two years ago from Hellas Verona in a deal worth around €8 million and has continued to grow since his arrival, proving himself under Maurizio Sarri in his debut campaign before slipping out of view in his second term.
Casale bounced back from his poor form under Igor Tudor and closed out the season positively for Lazio, starting eight matches out of 10 in the final few weeks of the campaign. He still has three years left on his contract in the Italian capital.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Bologna are interested in picking up Casale this summer, wanting to bolster their backline ahead of their Champions League campaign under Vincenzo Italiano, but Lazio are not open to a sale.
New coach Marco Baroni believes he can revitalize the 26-year-old, who struggled to perform his best in his second year in Rome. The plan is to place trust in the defender and hope to see him continue his growth at the club.
