Lazio Reject Aston Villa & Newcastle Offers for Midfield Star

Lazio have reportedly turned down bids from Aston Villa and Newcastle United for Matteo Guendouzi.

The Biancocelesti signed the Frenchman last summer, buying his services from Olympique Marseille. His maiden campaign in Italy started on a positive note, but things took a turn for the worse following Maurizio Sarri’s resignation in March.

This sparked an unwanted reunion with his former Marseille coach Igor Tudor with whom he had clashed in the past. Following a brief reconciliation, the duo found themselves at odds once more. But with the Croatian manager now gone and replaced by Marco Baroni, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) believes that Guendouzi is no longer determined to leave.

Lazio Intend to Keep Guendouzi Amidst Aston Villa & Newcastle Interest

This is good news for Lazio President Claudio Lotito, as he considers the midfielder untouchable. In fact, the pink newspaper claims that the Biancocelesti have already rejected an offer from Aston Villa worth €25 million. The Villains were hoping to reunite the 25-year-old with his former Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Lazio have also blocked an approach from Newcastle. Nevertheless, the source wonders if the Italian capital side would be able to resist offers exceeding €30 million for the midfielder who could be tempted by a return to the Premier League.
