Lazio defender Mario Gila has publicly silenced the transfer market rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
The 23-year-old Spanish centre-back looked more positive in his second season with the Biancocelesti, seeing over 2400 minutes across 29 matches, working well alongside Alessio Romagnoli and Nicolo Casale.
In recent days, reports emerged detailing how Real Madrid have rekindled interest in Mario Gila, leaving Lazio in a tough spot. The Biancocelesti have already rejected offers of around €20 million for the talented defender, who is contracted to the club for another three years.
Speaking in Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Mario Gila sent a clear message ruling out a move to Real Madrid, professing his belief in Lazio’s new project.
I’m not moving from here, even if Real Madrid have a clause and offers have arrived. The club believe in me, and I believe in Lazio.
In the summer of 2022, Lazio spent around €6 million to bring in Mario Gila. Real Madrid retained a 50% future resale clause, which would give them a discount for a possible deal.
