Lazio have reportedly made an offer for Gaetano Castrovilli who is now a Free Agent after parting ways with Fiorentina.
The 27-year-old is a Bari youth product who joined the Viola in 2017. He rose through the club’s ranks and had his big breakthrough in the 2019/20 season, cementing himself as one of the best revelations of the Serie A campaign.
However, recurring injury problems halted his progress and limited his role in Florence. Therefore, Fiorentina decided to release the Italian at the end of the previous campaign, so he’s now looking to reignite his career at a new club.
Lazio Make an Offer for Castrovilli
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the midfielder is well-admired by Lazio who have made him an important offer until 2025, with an option to extend until 2026. Castrovilli has yet to accept the bid, but the parties are currently negotiating; however, Pedullà warns that the player has other suitors so the Biancocelesti must be prepared for possible a tug-of-war.
The former Fiorentina man can play as a box-to-box midfielder or in a more advanced position behind the striker. The Free Agent also had four international caps with the senior Italian national team, scoring a single goal in the process. He was a member of Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri squad which went on to lift the Euro 2020 trophy, albeit he only contributed with a single brief cameo throughout the tournament.
