Al-Ain are reportedly looking to lure Lazio youngster Diego Gonzalez to the United Arab Emirates. The 21-year-old joined the Italian capital club in January 2023 initially on loan from Mexican side Calaya, before completing a permanent move last summer.
Since his arrival at Lazio, the Paraguayan swiftly cemented himself as one of the main stars of the club’s U19 side. Last season, he contributed with 10 goals and five assists in 23 appearances in the Primavera league.
Al-Ain Run a Survey for Lazio Youngster Diego Gonzalez
According to Tutto Mercato Web, the youngster’s prowess has attracted several suitors from Serie B. But recently, Al-Ain have inquired about Gonzalez. The UAE giants are considering launching an onslaught for the up-and-coming winger.
The source adds that Lazio won’t make a hasty decision about the Paraguayan’s future. Instead, they will await his participation in the Olympic Games in Paris and monitor his performances to shed more light on the situation.
Gonzalez was called up to the senior squad by former Lazio coach Igor Tudor during the final weeks of the Serie A campaign. However, he didn’t make any appearances for the first team during the 2023/24 campaign. His contract with the Biancocelesti will expire in June 2025.
