Lazio Enter the Race for Napoli Wantaway Midfielder

Lazio have reportedly joined another two Serie A clubs that are vying for the signature of Napoli midfielder Gianluca Gaetano. The 24-year-old is a youth product of the Partenopei but has been struggling to gain playing time since earning a promotion to the senior squad.

The attacking midfielder spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Cagliari where he managed to impress under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri. He scored four goals and provided one assist in 11 Serie A appearances for the Isolani. The Italian has now returned to Napoli but is seeking an exit in search of a more prominent role.

Lazio Join the Race for Gianluca Gaetano

According to Radio Kiss Kiss Director Valter De Maggio (via LazioSpace X account), Lazio have entered the fray for Gaetano, as their new manager Marco Baroni is a keen admirer of the player.

The Biancocelesti will thus compete for the midfielder’s services against Cagliari, who will try to lure him back to Sardinia, and the newly promoted Parma. Gaetano’s contract with Napoli will expire next year. Therefore, he should be available for a relatively affordable figure.

Lazio have already been very busy on the market this summer, completing the signings of the likes of Tijjani Noslin, Loum Tchaouna, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Cristo Munoz, Gabriele Artistico, and Nuno Tavares.
