Lazio have given a potential hint regarding the next club captain following the recent sale of Ciro Immobile to Besiktas.

The 34-year-old Italian striker left the capital last week to join the Turkish club on a two-year deal, being sold by the Biancocelesti for around €3 million, bringing an end to a historic eight-year spell at the club.

Immobile was the Lazio captain for a few years following the retirement of Senad Lulic, and his departure forced the club to decide which player to hand the honour to next. One player in particular seems like a fairly obvious candidate – Alessio Romagnoli.

Lazio posted a photo on Twitter showing Romagnoli wearing the captain’s armband during the pre-season friendly against Trapani, suggesting that he could be given the honours for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

The 29-year-old Italian defender has only been with the club for the last two years but is known to be a boyhood fan of the team, a support he’s managed to maintain over the years.

  1. Incontestable, Alessio because Cataldi might not start and Pellegrini clearly isn’t.

Love all of them to be fair they are all true Laziales
