Lazio Reject Opportunity to Sign Spurs’ Argentine Outcast

Lazio have reportedly been offered the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso, but have decided to turn down the opportunity.

The Biancocelesti have been very active on the market in the early going. They parted ways with key players like Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Felipe Anderson and Daichi Kamada, and brought in Loum Tchaouna, Tijani Noslin, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Nuno Tavares. Nevertheless, Lazio’s market is far from over, as they’re still looking to enhance Marco Baroni’s squad with new arrivals.

But as La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) reports, the Italian capital side isn’t interested in Lo Celso despite his recent exploits in the Copa America final. The 28-year-old is a skillful attacking midfielder who has been on Spurs’ books since 2019.

Lazio Turned Down Giovanni Lo Celso

After spending 18 months on loan at Villarreal, the Argentine returned to North London last summer, but couldn’t carve himself a starting role at Ange Postecoglu’s court. With his contract expiring in 2025, Spurs are hellbent on selling him this summer to avoid losing his services for free next summer.

However, Lazio prefer to focus on other targets. The management is still monitoring several profiles, and the chief among them is Sassuolo winger Armand Laurienté. Yet, Lo Celso could still end up in Serie A as he could be offered to other Italian clubs.
