Mourinho Trying to Lure Lazio Winger to Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce coach José Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing young Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen.

The Biancocelesti acquired the 23-year-old’s services from Midtjylland last summer by splashing €12 million. The Dane managed to carve himself an important role in Maurizio Sarri’s tactical scheme, becoming a regular starter at one point. However, his fortunes changed when Igor Tudor took over in March, suddenly becoming on the outs.

Although the Croatian manager has already left Formello, Isaksen continues to be linked with a possible exit. Earlier in the summer, Feyenoord asked for the winger to be included in a swap deal for Lazio transfer target Calvin Stengs. Moreover, Fenerbahce have now emerged as Isaksen’s newest suitor.

Former Roma Manager Mourinho Wants Isaksen at Fenerbahce

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Mourinho is a keen admirer of the player. The two men crossed paths last season in the Derby della Capitale when the Special One was still the manager of Roma. Hence, the Turkish giants have reportedly inquired about the Denmark international.

Nevertheless, the source believes that Lazio intend to keep Isaksen at Formello. The Biancocelesti management were satisfied with the player’s performances last season and believe he can explode this season under the guidance of Marco Baroni.

That being said, Pedullà notes that we still have a long way to go before the end of the summer transfer market, so we cannot completely rule out unpredictable scenarios.

  1. Without big offer Isaksen should be kept. Indeed this season he will have more confidence in himself(which is key for especially foreign players) so his value will at least double.
