Lazio have reportedly been offered the services of Colombia international James Rodriguez who is now a Free Agent after leaving São Paulo FC.

James Rodriguez Looking to Return to European Football

The 33-year-old was one of the most sought-after players during his heyday. He rose to prominence on the back of a memorable 2014 World Cup campaign, which earned him a big-money transfer to Real Madrid. He also represented the likes of Bayern Munich and Everton, but his career has waned over the past few years.

The attacking midfielder had spells in Qatar and Greece before enduring a miserable campaign at São Paulo FC. Nevertheless, his recent Copa América heroics could revitalize his career and put him back on the map. The veteran was named the tournament’s MVP after guiding Colombia to the final before succumbing to defeat at the hands of Argentina.

Colombian Star Offered to Lazio

So according to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Rodriguez is seeking a return to Europe, and football intermediaries have proposed his services to Lazio. The player has also been offered to Porto which was the first club he represented in Europe, as well as Real Betis.

As the source explains, Lazio Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani is reflecting on the matter, but securing the deal won’t be easy. The Biancocelesti have been focusing on revamping their squad by adding young profiles to the fold, but an experienced and renowned profile like Rodriguez could be a brilliant coup.

  1. At this stage we can’t have 2 snr citizens in the squad..

Let Pedro go and bring in James.

  2. Well, we lack creativity so I don’t see why not. Other than someone better being worked on?

  3. Another bad transfer campaign for us, why not berardi? He is a hell of a player and i see he is still at sassuolo

    1. Berardi needed to be signed last Summer. It simply had to happen, but it didn’t. Just the same as Zielinski. I would love to see Berardi at Lazio, but I don’t think anybody signs him while he’s still injured. Most likely, he’ll move to Bologna or Fiorentina in January.
