Lazio are reportedly pondering a move for their former star Joaquin Correa who has become surplus to requirements at Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old reached the pinnacle of his playing career during his three-year stint at the Stadio Olimpico before following his manager Simone Inzaghi in the summer of 2021 by signing for the Nerazzurri. However, the Argentine endured two forgettable campaigns at San Siro, followed by a miserable loan spell at Olympique Marseille last season.

Correa has now rejoined Inzaghi’s pre-season training camp and has been starting in Inter’s friendly matches due to the lack of attacking options. Nevertheless, the player’s future lies away from Appiano Gentile.

Lazio Consider Correa as Laurienté Alternative

According to Calciomercato, the striker’s possible return to Lazio is gradually gaining steam. The Biancocelesti still consider Armand Laurienté as their priority target to bolster the attack. However, Sassuolo are asking for €15 million to release the French winger, a figure that Lazio President Claudio Lotito considers excessive.

Therefore, the Biancocelesti could resort to Correa as a cheaper alternative. The Argentina international cost Inter circa €33 million in total, but the Italian champions are willing to sell him for €7 million, a figure that would be sufficient to avoid a capital loss on their balance sheet. The attacker currently earns €3.5 million per year as a net salary.

However, Lotito will reportedly try to gain a discount, either on the transfer fee or the player’s wages. Moreover, the source reveals that Sevilla is another former employer that could be interested in bringing back Correa.
