Torino Lead the Race to Sign Unhappy Lazio Stalwart

The love story between Lazio and Danilo Cataldi could be about to reach an anti-climactic end, and Torino and Cagliari reportedly looking to pounce on the opportunity.

The 29-year-old is a Biancocelesti childhood supporter as well as an academy product of the club. He only left Formello on loan spells in the past but has been a mainstay since 2018. However, the midfielder has endured a few complicated months which included unpleasant confrontations with President Claudio Lotito.

The rift between the player and the hierarchy reached its climax recently when he was snubbed for the captaincy despite being the club’s most senior player. Instead, the management handed the armband to Mattia Zaccagni.

Despite the club’s best attempts to downplay the situation, it appears that the rift between the two parties could spell the end of Cataldi’s time at his beloved club. According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the player is currently on the transfer list, with Torino in pole position for his signature. Cagliari are also in the race for the Italian midfielder.

The Roman newspaper adds that the meeting that was supposed to take place between Cataldi and the management was cancelled for an unknown reason. In the meantime, if any suitable offers were to arrive for the player, Lazio will take them into consideration.

  1. I don’t think that he will be sold. He’s one of the leaders, not captain but important person for the team.

  2. Whatever he does I am on Danilos side. Loving this club means something and he always was a straight hard working Laziale.

Manage this well Lotito coz supporters will get angry
