Girona will reportedly launch an onslaught on Lazio striker Taty Castellanos once they cash in on Artem Dovbyk.
The 27-year-old Ukrainian star enjoyed a stellar first season in Spanish football, scoring 24 goals in 36 La Liga appearances. His exploits helped the City Group-owned club secure a historic qualification for the Champions League. However, Dovbyk won’t dwell at Girona for too long, as he’s currently on the verge of completing a move to Roma.
Girona Will Try to Replace Dovbyk With Castellanos
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, the Spanish club is looking to send one striker to the Italian capital, only to replace him with another one based in the same city. The source expects the Blanquivermells to lunge forward for Castellanos after completing Dovbyk’s sale.
The 25-year-old Argentine had already played for Girona in the 2022/23 season on loan from their sister-club New York City FC. This stint was followed by a move to Lazio worth €15 million. Castellanos initially struggled for goals and playing time, but his situation improved during Igor Tudor’s short tenure between March and June.
With Ciro Immobile sold to Besiktas, new Lazio Manager Marco Baroni is planning to heavily rely on the Argentine for the upcoming season. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Biancocelesti would be willing to part ways with their main striker, as this would force them to dive into the market in search of a direct replacement.
