Lazio are reportedly pondering a move for FC Rostov winger Pontus Almqvist who spent the previous campaign on loan at Lecce.

The 25-year-old is a Swedish player who began his career in his native country where he represented several clubs before signing for Rostov in 2020. But since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, he has been constantly out on loan, beginning with a brief experience in the Netherlands with Utrecht followed by a move to Polish side Pogon Szczecin.

Last season, the former Sweden U21 international represented Lecce. His time at the Via del Mare culminated with two goals and one assist in 30 Serie A appearances. Almqvist has now returned to Rostov as he still has one year left on his contract with the Russian club. Hence, he could be available at a relatively low price.

Lazio Add Almqvist to Attacking Shortlist

So according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Lazio could decide to pounce on the situation and launch an onslaught for the winger. The Biancocelesti are still looking to add one or two players to their attacking ranks, and Almqvist is the latest name to be linked with a transfer to the Italian capital. The source believes this could become a more concrete possibility in the coming days.

The Nyköping native is a left-footed player who is often deployed as an inverted winger cutting from the right flank. But he can also feature on the opposite side of the pitch, or even as a centre-forward if required.
