Lazio Plan Shock Swoop for Juventus Outcast But Face Uphill Task

Lazio is the latest club to be linked with Juventus star Federico Chiesa who has been bluntly told to find a new club. The 26-year-old has been considered among the Old Lady’s main protagonists since arriving at the club in 2020.

However, new Juventus coach Thiago Motta deems the Italian inapt to his tactical system, so he has recently made it clear that the player doesn’t have a place in his plans ahead of the new season. Moreover, Chiesa’s contract will expire in 2025, giving the Juventus management another key motive to offload him this summer.

Lazio Plotting a Move For Chiesa?

According to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio are intrigued by the notion of signing the Euro 2020 hero. He would thus follow in the footsteps of his father Enrico Chiesa who represented the Biancocelesti during his playing days, albeit for a single campaign.

However, the source notes that the Italian capital side will be facing a daunting mission, as the player’s current salary is unattainable. Chiesa earns circa €6 million at Juventus. On the other hand, Lazio are only able to offer wages worth €4 million, including bonuses, on a four-year contract.

Therefore, the report believes this could be a far-fetched plan for Lazio, especially if other top suitors were to enter the fray. Chiesa has been linked with the likes of Roma, Napoli, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham, but has yet to receive a concrete offer.
