Lazio Planning Late-Summer Swoop for Barcelona Teenager

Lazio are reportedly hoping to sign Barcelona youngster Vitor Roque late in the summer after seeing their initial offer rejected.

The Biancocelesti are seeking one more addition to their attacking department, and preferably one who’s under the age of 22 as their senior squad list is already saturated. Hence, Roque is one of several youngsters who are currently being linked with a move to the Italian capital.

However, recent reports suggested that the young Brazilian has named Lazio as his preferred destination. Hence, the young striker could become a concrete possibility for Lazio this summer. Italian football journalist Matteo Moretto confirmed Lazio have inquired about the 19-year-old, but the negotiations haven’t yet reached an advanced stage.

Lazio Plan to Sign Vitor Roque on Loan from Barcelona

Moreover, Il Corriere dello Sport reveals that the Italian capital side presented an offer of €20 million plus a 50% sell-on fee but was turned down by Barcelona. Nevertheless, the Blaugrana are forced to offload the young striker due to their Financial Fair Play issues which are preventing them from registering the player in their squad list for the upcoming campaign.

Therefore, the Roman newspaper claims that Lazio Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani will try to pounce on Barcelona’s desperation to secure Roque’s signature on loan. Nevertheless, this operation could only ensue towards the end of the summer transfer market when all hope of a permanent sale is lost.

The Athletico Paranaense youth product joined the Catalan giants in January, but couldn’t carve himself as a regular starting spot. He made 14 appearances in La Liga last season, but only two as a starter.
