Lazio Aiming to Sign Former Juventus Loanee From Southampton

Lazio have reportedly set their sights on young Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz who had a brief experience at Juventus last term.

The 21-year-old is a Racing Club youth product who was poached by the Saints in January 2023. Last winter, he joined the Bianconeri on loan with an option to buy set at circa €50 million. However, the Argentine had a limited impact in Turin, so the Bianconeri had no intention to splash such a hefty fee. Instead, they turned their attention towards alternative profiles.

Nevertheless, Alcaraz could still play his football in Italy despite Juve’s snob.

Lazio Interested in Southampton Youngster Carlos Alcaraz

According to Solo La Lazio, the Biancocelesti admire the youngster – especially Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani – who is said to be bewitched by the player. Moreover, Lazio would be able to register the Argentine without any issues thanks to his young age, as he wouldn’t command a spot on the club’s saturated senior list.

The Italian capital side will thus try to lure Alcaraz to Formello with a loan offer that includes an option to buy. However, it remains to be seen if Southampton would be open to replicating the same formula adopted in the agreement with Juventus last January.

The source adds that the friendly contest between Lazio and the Saints on Wednesday could provide the Italians with the opportunity to hold direct talks with their Premier League counterparts. The midfielder’s contract with the English club runs until June 2028.

  1. why there are so many rumors that many young but expensive kids linking to Lazio? Others may wonder but I am familiar with the stingy character of Lotito, he is not even willing to spend 12 or 20m on a well developed player, let alone 30m or 40m on a gem who is not yet testified, his wallet is not able to pay such amount.

  2. Not sure after his brawl with the Lazio Side in the friendly match they will want that. I think there are better options out in the market than him.
