While four Serie A clubs are vying for the services of Matteo Cancellieri, Lazio are only willing to do business on their own terms.

The young Italian is a youth product of Roma who eventually made a name for himself at Hellas Verona, prompting a return to the Italian capital in 2022, but this time through the gates of the Biancocelesti.

After struggling to earn playing time at Maurizio Sarri’s court, the Aquile sent the player on loan to Empoli last season, where he contributed with four goals and three assists in 36 league appearances. This includes the assist to M’Baye Niang’s last-gasp winner on the final day of the season which kept the Tuscans in Serie A.

Four Serie A Clubs Interested in Lazio Winger Matteo Cancellieri

According to Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Monza CEO Adriano Galliani was hoping to sign the 22-year-old on loan, but the Biancocelesti rejected the offer. As the source explains, Lazio would like to offload the player but are seeking a more reassuring formula. This could be a permanent sale or a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Aside from Monza, Pedullà reveals that all newly promoted Serie A clubs in Como, Parma, and Genoa are also keeping tabs on the young Italian winger. Therefore, it remains to be seen which suitor will present Lazio with a convincing offer and put the deal over the line.
