Lazio registered a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St. Marry’s Stadium in their penultimate friendly of the pre-season.
The hosts started on the right foot, scoring the opener in the fifth minute through a clever strike from Bereton Diaz from the edge of the box. But afterwards, it was the Italian visitors who enjoyed the bulk of the chances.
Taty Castellanos warned the Saints with an effort that whistled past the post just before the half-hour mark. A few minutes later, the Argentine produced an absolute stunner. He controlled the ball with two touches in the air, setting up a fabulous volley with a third elegant touch that somehow found its way to the far corner.
Castelannos Shines in Southampton vs Lazio Friendly
The 25-year-old had several chances to put the Biancocelesti in the lead after the break, and so did Gustav Isakssen who hit the woodwork. Nevertheless, the main highlight of the second period was unfortunately a brawl that followed a nasty challenge from Carlos Alcaraz, culminating with the Argentine’s sendoff alongside Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli.
The result remained unchanged, but Marco Baroni can be content with the signs of improvement showcased by his men against the Premier League boys.
