Michael Folorunsho is on his way out of Napoli after failing to see eye to eye with Antonio Conte and is reportedly aiming for a return to Lazio.

The 26-year-old spent a few years at the Italian capital club’s youth academy before being released in 2017. A couple of years, he signed for Napoli who have consistently sent him on loan over the past few years.

But following his breakout campaign at Hellas Verona, the midfielder was apparently set to carve himself a place at his parent club. He even signed a new contract earlier in the summer. However, things didn’t pan out according to plan, with Conte now deciding to drop the Italy international from his squad, while the player retaliated by deleting all Napoli-related posts from his social media accounts.

Folorunsho Wants Lazio Return

Over the past few days, Folorunsho emerged as a transfer target for Lazio who are still seeking an addition to their midfield department. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Folorunsho is eager to make his return to Formello where he had developed his game earlier in his career. Moreover, he would reunite with his old Verona and Reggina coach Marco Baroni.

The source believes Lazio would be able to seal the deal by splashing €12 million. The journalist reveals that Atalanta were close to signing the Napoli outcast, but Gianluca Scamacca’s ACL injury forced them to pursue Mateo Retegui instead as they needed a new striker. And while Fiorentina remain in the fray, Pedullà suggests Lazio could have the upper hand in the race.
